Lafontaine Earns Employee of the Month

Seth Lafontaine received the distinction of September Employee of the Month at Country Living at Westview Commons. Having joined their culinary team in May of this year, he has quickly garnered the appreciation of the colleagues he works with and the residents he serves. Seth performs his craft as a cook in Westview Commons Dining Department—a skill he has previously honed working in other area restaurants. Seth also has experience as a member of the serving staff in those locations, and he greatly appreciates how his current role at Westview Commons allows him to interact directly with the residents during mealtimes. A chief priority for him is making food that pleases the residents; always deferring to provide them what they want and how they want it prepared. Seth is personally and professionally a fan of comfort foods: simple ingredients and sure successes. “In the kitchen, the little things make the big difference,” he remarked.

As a resident of the North Grosvenordale village of Thompson, CT, Seth is a graduate of Tourtellotte Memorial High School. He is the son of Daniel and Karen Lafontaine, and brother to Tamra Lafontaine. Seth is proud to point out his connections to the Westview family of companies prior to his employment with Country Living at Westview Commons. His sister Tamra previously worked at Westview Health Care Center as a Certified Nursing Assistant; and his grandmother, Marge Lafontaine, has several personal friends that reside at Westview Commons. Seth’s popularity among his patrons was evident as he departed the portrait session for this award. The Great Room full of lunchtime residents lauded his charisma and commitment to his craft; with each table of diners offering Seth congratulations and wishing him continued success.

When Seth is not working on the cuisine offered by Westview Commons, he likes to spend time outdoors as often as possible. He enjoys fishing on local lakes and rivers in the quiet corner, and he stays active by playing disc golf—and particularly—by picking up a game of basketball whenever he can. Wherever he goes, Seth carries kindness and consideration through his pursuits. He appreciates the pleasantness of the Westview Commons residents; finding their warmth easily attainable by treating them with respect, dignity, and humor. He loves joking with the residents and generating smiles at every opportunity. His commentary upon receiving this award reflects his humility and appreciation for the position he fulfills. “I’m extremely happy to receive this award, I love my job, my coworkers, and these residents—so much that achieving this award means a lot to me!” He went on to add: “My colleagues and I work so well together, and I couldn’t ask for a better work environment. Thank you all!”
