Employee of the Month

Nancy Blake earned the Employee of the Month award at Country Living at Westview Commons in February. Nancy is an Administrative Assistant and activities specialist at the Dayville independent and assisted living facility, where she enjoys spending quality time with the residents. In addition to her professional background in corporate settings, Nancy possesses a personal passion for singing in group choirs—and she and several residents at Westview Commons have developed this concept to form their own choral cohort. During this past winter holiday season, Nancy and the Westview Commons Choir delivered their gift of song to audiences at Westview Commons as well as Westview Health Care Center. They look forward to performing their spring concert at both locations in the coming weeks.

Nancy grew up in Danielson, CT and graduated from Killingly High School. She holds a certificate from Quinebaug Valley Community College in Business and Accounting Software, and has previously utilized those skills at local medical and professional businesses. In an earlier chapter of her life, Nancy also worked as a Therapeutic Recreation Director in a skilled nursing facility, and she has great appreciation for elders in the community. She likes to reference one of her favorite quotes as she considers her purpose in this calling: “To care for those who once cared for us is one of the highest honors.”

Nancy and her husband Richard have two sons, Jonathan and Nick, and three grandchildren, Charlotte, Isabelle, and Harrison. Their family bond is close in both affection and location, and they cherish all of the time they share together. As an active member of the New Life Assembly in Griswold, CT, Nancy exercises her passion for faith as a part of their worship team. In her quiet moments, she enjoys reading Christian books to further her considerations in life. Gardening is another passion of Nancy’s, as she likes to sow flower and vegetable seeds and see the resulting blooms. She likes to decorate and generate arts and crafts projects in her personal life, and loves when she can collaborate on a creative concept with residents at Westview Commons.

Upon receiving the Employee of the Month designation at Westview Commons, Nancy expressed gratitude and grace: “I’m so happy to be a part of the community at Westview Commons. It is such a wonderful setting and we have a special group of residents living here—I feel blessed to contribute to this population. I send special thanks to all of my colleagues that I am privileged to work with!”
