Crossman Earns Employee of the Month

November 10, 2021

Jennifer Crossman has been designated as October Employee of the Month in the setting of Country Living at Westview Commons. As an evening Administrative Assistant, Jen is among the first of many smiling faces that one will see upon entering Westview Commons. Jen graciously greets residents, their families and guests, entertainers, medical professionals, and fellow staff members at the front desk during her nighttime postings. Many more responsibilities are also carried out by Jen during her shifts at the Dayville independent and assisted living facility. She is the primary contact for helping with resident requests as they are phoned-in or directly communicated to her at the front desk. She then works with the trusted team of Westview Commons colleagues around her to coordinate the necessary efforts; collectively making strides to support the catered lifestyle that Westview Commons offers its residents.

Having grown up in this area, Jen has a lot of pride and joy in the region’s offerings. She is a lifelong resident of Killingly, CT and attended Killingly High School. From there, she earned an Associate Degree in Liberal Arts and Science and another Associate Degree in Business Administration from Quinebaug Valley Community College. Jen continued her educational journey by graduating from Nichols College with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration in 2020. Previously, she has also worked in a role as the Administrative Assistant at Westview Health Care Center; starting at the skilled nursing facility in 2004 and earning their Employee of the Month award in March 2009. Jen is close with her family and she enjoys spending time with her mother and father, Elisabeth and Asa Crossman, and her sister Heather whenever she can. As an animal lover, she is sure to include her dog Dixie; cats Jack, Blair, Marty, and Cleo; horses Abbey, Country, and mini-horses Rosie and Silver; and all 18 of her chickens in her family considerations. Jen is an avid fan of the Boston Red Sox, and loves to spend time outdoors. Specifically, she enjoys kayaking and camping—both locally and in New Hampshire—around scenic waterways with her boyfriend Dave.

Throughout her life Jen maintains a passion for agriculture, specifically, the care and training of horses for equestrian events. She has enjoyed horseback riding for as long as she can remember, and she loves to work with younger children to instill that same early passion within them as she leads riding lessons. Jen and several of her horses continue to compete in horse shows and she enjoys passing that competitive legacy to younger generations through her work volunteering and announcing the in-ring action at equestrian events. Many of the Westview Commons residents like to strike up conversations with Jen about her expertise with horses and she easily entertains those dialogues with both inexperienced and knowledgeable horse enthusiasts with the same grace. Regardless of the topic, Jen looks forward to all of her interactions within the Westview Commons community as indicated in her statement when she was awarded this monthly distinction. “I feel honored to be recognized as Westview Commons’ Employee of the Month! I love working with everyone here, and the residents always bring a smile to my face,” Jen remarked.
